Hey,
I've been using a cheap 4" HD tile saw and the motor quit yesterday. I've been shopping for new saws, comparing expensive lapidary saws and cheaper tile saws. I see the top recommendation on this site is the Workforce THD550. That saw is no longer available. Looking at Home Depot, they now have a QEP that closely resembles the Workforce but appears to have a smaller motor. Harbor Freight also has a 7" tile saw that looks like the Workfoce. I was at Dirt Cheap and they had a $197 Ridgid R4020 marked down to $75. Plastic body but has a cast aluminum table with ridges (not smooth).
Anyone have recommendations on the best (and inexpensive) tile saw available today since I can't get a Workforce?

Check out the Pawn shops in the area I have bought Tile saws for as little as $15. People buy them for a project and don't need them anymore. Keith

If you want to trim slabs only stick to any 4" (or 4.5") tile saw with a 5/8" arbor. Put a 4" lapidary blade on it. With 7" saws you are pretty much stuck with thick tile blades. My personal favorite is the MK145. For the lapidary market you get both a really nice 4.5" tile blade and a .020" 303C lapidary blade. Figure list prices of $43 and $25 for the two blades and the $130 list price saw is a bargain with a one year warranty. I think Harbor Freight sells a 4" tile saw with 5/8" arbor but don't know about the Depot or Lowes.

it was never the workforce saw,it was always the blade.
put a good blade on whatever saw you get and you will be fine

Agree with Daniel. The QEP blade on the original WorkForce was thick, but cut well and could even be used for grinding.

I was all over that, but was told several days back that they were spoken for.

Ok, i found a Workforce tile saw still in original box on eBay with a "buy it now" price so I jumped on it. Much cheaper than the Lortone 6" and 10" saws I was looking at!!! Can't wait to get it and try it.
Thanks for all the input!
