Box got here today wish I had never got in this as all i see is cast offs and pure junk this should have never been started with this junk rock i will pack it up and send it on. I can not even find one thing to take out its beat up real bad who is next in line.

That was my 666 post so I had to post again just to get off that no. lol. Hope this is started over Scott you could not have gotten much out of this as it looks like some one just packed it with a pitch fork.

George, A couple times now when the box got to me, it was nothing but peoples cast offs. I've always tried to put nice stuff back in the box. But if this is the way people want to play I ask that my name be removed from the list.
Sherri, please remove my name from the list. If people don't want to play fair, then I don't want to play at all.

I started the box with really nice stuff and just sent out the box with what came back at the end of the last round. I don't blame any of you. I can not continue the box either, I don't have that much nice stuff to keep filling up the box. I don't mind if you stop the box right where it is. Just let me know. I am not doing this box any more due to the outcome. I did not check the box before I sent it back out on round 6. Sorry guys.

Just wanted to add a note, I started this box last year with everything from my stock. I can't continue to take a full box out of my stock each year. I need someone else to pick this task up. Please don't be mad at me.

it's all slabs. It is in transit. I mailed a bunch of stuff that day and had a couple others not delivered yet also. George glad you posted twice. Everyone needs their own comforts!  It is a bunch of slabs. Nice slabs from sheri but slabs nonetheless. |

Nobody's mad at you Sheri. The first year I got involved in the box, everybody took out and put back in nice material. The second year I noticed some junk being unloaded into the box. The last time, some members had included wire wrapped pieces. By the time they got to me, anything that had once been nice had migrated to the bommom of the box and been crushed. People seem to be showing less and less respect for the nice materials put into the box, and for those down the line from them.
People, the object of the box is not to be a dumping ground for your castoffs. It was intended to be a means for our members to share some of their nice material and works with others. All that was asked was that for whatever you took out of the box, that you replace it with material of equal value if possible.
Until we can get back to the original meaning and spirit of the traveling box, I no longer want to be a part of it.

The post office must be beating these boxes with ball bats this box is by far the worst beat up flat rater I have ever seen. Two gaping holes in the top I am sure rocks are missing one is so large I can reach in and pull out rocks. I have went trough it found some things I liked just real bad rock put in from the start now its beat up bad rock not all bad just not much that is not chipped or broken or end cuts. Most all of what was in baggie's are no longer in them they are beat up real bad i will replace and cushion them from the other rocks.Someone put in some small turq. cut offs great for inlay thanks.

So, is the box dead now or is it continuing??
I understand and share concerns about getting less than stellar rocks/slabs and being expected to keep adding good material when you don't get any yourself.I did the last newbie box and sent a baggie of tumbled Lakers to help start it, and would have been willing to donate some material to get this one started but I didn't see anything in the post so I figured it was covered.
I don't have a lot of high end stuff and yet I always try to add something good to the box ... so if it is not going to continue I would appreciate it if someone puts a definitive answer in here so I know what to do with the material I had ear-marked for the box.

Look at the starting thread I am sending the swap box and some rough back to scott and he is going to refill it with some rock after he cuts some into slabs for me that is not posted any where lol. I have to go get rough first i do not have it close at hand should be a few days then i will send it back to Scott.

ok, so your going to get some rough and send it to scott who will slab it and put some into the box to send it back out. do you want me to check and see if I have anything to add too... I can send some slabs to scott for the box also... no guarantees but I have some jaspers that have not seen a saw blade yet, so I can always add some slabs to the box to help get it going if needed.... just let me know.

I see that there are only 18 signed up. Am I too late to get in? NO NO NO not in the box, the go around. I also have some nice stuff that I will send to Scott to add to the box. I am putting together a surprise box for him anyway. Don't read that Scott because it is a surprise. lol
Whadayathink. Can I be in this go around, please please huh huh can I be? I promise to uphold the laws and regulations for this traveling box and make the person after me very happy.
Recently I shipped a box that arrived "beat into submission". I am sending another one today that is heavily fortified. I think that the more you make it look like it will not come apart the harder they try to bust it open. I did not have a problem earlier so maybe the cutbacks have the people that are left throwing boxes to keep up. It sucks now because half of the box has to be padding to keep everything from breaking.

I just re-read thru this thread and now understand what happened.
The box I received was everyone's castoff's from the last go around. I was new to this. Last time I took a few cool items for tumbling and a special something put in just for me. I replace with more of the best stuff I had at the time. This time I received a box of slabs and only one chunk of something. I traded chunks putting in better than I took. The balance of the box was little brown slabs. I admit to being disappointed but said nothing because of my being new to the traveling rock box.
We are now re-doing the box with special donations from George, Me, Don, Mario, Jim and whomever else PM's me for my address. I will slab some of george's stuff, at his request. After that my cutting schedule is full. So I'll simply include what I receive from the other folks. I have some better material than last time and will include some of that.
OK folks let's try to trade up and keep the box quality top notch! We are all friends here. Let's share all friendly like! ;-)
