Hi Guys,
If you haven't been yet, fun people to go see at the NYC Metro Show,
The first is they one that I didn't get a picture from...
Spencer Opal Mines.... Got some rough and a lot of "How to" from him and we are definitely planning a road trip out to the mine at this point! Great people and nice rocks!
Everyone had opal, by the way. Most was African and could be bought cheaper from the dealers but these guys knew their rocks.
Michael Triebold Paleontology! We talked to Michael for about a half an hour. He's the guy with the dino skeletons. Facinating man with a ton of info! We had a blast with him as well!
Francisco's American Woman...
Okay...don't wear anything shiny around your neck when around this statue... Just sayin....
This we didn't get any photo's of either as he is in the middle of the show... Earth Energy...We got some killer sandstone slabs from him. I know...we can't polish them but they're beautiful and look great on our shelves.
Another that should not be missed is Robert G. Sharp! He had some killer knives and Sharp Design Studio has some cool jewelry too!
Also... and we didn't get photos of this guy either...Over on the left side of the showroom is Preservation Supplies and Tools. For those of us who contemplate someday setting up our own e shops and showing, the word is "contemplate", he's got some great little stuff for displaying and a catalogue for ordering!
Made some great connections with some folks at the show. Like in all things, we weren't into everything that was there but had a great time! The fossils were really a lot of fun but there really were no raw materials... slabs or rough... that were worth consideration except opals. We definitely had a great time and learned a lot! but both felt that the show kind of missed the mark for what I'm doing.
So cheers!
