There ya go! Okay, I do have to give you one tip. This is the box thread so you may not get the feedback on the stone you're looking for...because the folks who are talking about cabs and stones are up on the cab thread. See if you can redo the post up on the cab thread and you'll get more feedback. xXxAlisha91xXx is in the middle of shipping off the box and may need some help with it on this thread.... and after you finish with the cab thread, take a look at the wire wrapping thread. There's some great inspiration there too! You'll love it!
Have fun!

Okay, I took out the rose, a piece of the Owyhee jasper and a whole thunderegg/geode on top of the things I already posted about taking out. Everything is fitting nicely inside of a MFR box now. When I said I was considering moving up to a larger box, I meant a LFR since I already have 1 of those too. I wouldn't dare try to ship a large box that wasn't a flat rate... I loved this and want to say "Thanks Again Helen!" Um not really, I still see a bulge at the top of the box (USPS doesn't like bulgy flat rate boxes)... but I see you sealed it up again. If you can stand sealing it up yet again, I think you can still take more, at least get some of the obsidians!! Kap... more rotation of stuff is good:)!!! I don't know how much more ranting we can all do about no guilt swapping stuff out of the box without sounding silly... what a funny problem to have with this box!!! LOL! Dave, your cabs look great:)! I like both the ocean jasper and the red agate, but I have no clue what the red one is either, but it's pretty! The best place to get help with ID is in the rock ID section. Not everyone reads the box threads, but most people read the cab and ID and General threads, so for IDing stuff, those are the better bet than here:).

The box isn't really bulging. I think it's just the angle that I took the picture at.
I did take a slab of the fancy obsidian, but I left some for the people further down the line. It's definitely beautiful stuff and can't wait to try cabbing it with my dremel!

I have never had a problem with boxes looking like that(mine are worse at times). I will try and change a few things out. Keith

This is hilarious y'all! :-) Do you think we should have a minimum "take" volume? lol.

LMAO!!!!! Don, you kill me!!!! For the next round, I have to think of better rules or something... like you MUST take x percentage of box!!! TRY to refill it with nice stuff out of consideration for those further down the line, but if you don't have it, DON"T WORRY about that, because DON will fill it up (because he's going to be in the next one, we must have us oldtimers:P).

Next time Helen. But for now I'm enjoying reading everything that's going on with this one. Some of the rocks out in my shed would more than fill a MFRB. Got a hunk of sheen obsidian in the flower garden that weighs about 25 lbs. When I slab it, I'll save some for the box. You know I just love teasing you:). From the way these things are going, you will be hard pressed to find any room in the next box either:P. So people can see what a finished colored obsidian looks like, here's a Krystee cab (er... mine are probably not going to come out quite like this:P). This is OBSIDIAN, and if you can believe it, the cab is even better looking in person than the photo. You just cannot photograph the LAYERS of depth in obsidian, it's even harder to shoot than opals. The camera wants to focus on one layer somewhere inside the stone and pix just don't come out right compared to what your eyeball can SEE. Of course, Krystee's eye for detail and perfectionism in cabbing has much to do with what she can bring out of a stone too, but isn't this something else? (there are NO flaws, every surface imperfection is dust or reflection- it's astonishing):

LOL! Helen, you're dead right. Maybe it becomes something like swap "equivalent value AND equivalent quantity!"
Jim's comments about the "pallet" may become self-fulfilling!
Alisha - grab some more of the obsidian slabs that are in there!

Of course you are loveable! You and Krystee both contributed to this box, and neither of you are even IN IT! How can anyone not appreciate such generosity:)?
That and you are just funny as hell:).

After seeing that picture of Krystee's obsidian cab, I couldn't resist cutting into the slab I kept from the box. So far, this piece off of it is only in preform stage, but, man, this stuff is cool! At one angle it looks like this.... Then, it looks like this at another... And then BAM, it changes to a totally different color at another angle... Sorry if I'm boring y'all. Obviously, I am very easily amused ;D

It is very kewl stuff:)! I have heard that the best way to view is to dome... try cutting down the sides 1/2 way and taper to the middle? It looks dimensional inside... so much that it's hard to get a photo because the camera doesn't know how to focus (you see that in the Krystee cab... I had to focus on my FINGERS).

Thanks for the tip, Helen! Yeah, I had a hard time even beginning to capture what it looks like. It definitely gives photographing opals a run for its money...

Hmmm, I've never been really interested in obsidian, always was afraid it was too brittle to work or something, but of course, I've never seen such cool colors and patterns before! Hope some of Paul's obsidian is in there by the time the box gets to me, now I'd really like to try it! THanks for sharing the pics Alisha, how could you possibly bore rock lovers with pictures of rocks?!

Ditto on Don's comments...I've got more of the sheen obsidian in the garage. PM me if you want additional slabs ... hopefully there's enough to go around but if not, let me know!
Alisha - that came out really cool. Looking forward to seeing the progression! Thanks for posting the photos.
