Thanks Sue!! I just find it easier to have a visual for getting an idea of things, and I figure you guys might like to see it too:).
Get a life? The best life is getting to do what you are interested in:)!! If someone EVER tells you to 'get a life', they are simply telling you they are jealous that you can spend so much time doing exactly what you want:)!!

Somebody on here has a quote in their profile just exactly like that. I can't remember who though of course, or who it is a quote from.

Something like "When you have 'made it' is when you are doing exactly what you want to do."

OK!! Box packed!!!! I could not get everything I wanted in the box, but I got in as much as I possibly could without stuffing it in so it would all get broken. I didn't use much padding because I couldn't, but tried to protect everything as much as I could. I could get NO glass in there, and I do not think it would be possible for any glass to withstand the crushing, and what I put in was what I thought would be the strongest things that WOULD withstand being with the other things. So without further ado... This is what I was hoping to get in the box before adding more (see the empty MFRB there)... uh... not going to happen: What you see above are, Krystee's box of pretty assorted tumbles on the left, Don's slab donations wrapped in cardboard, my gifts in the 2 boxes plus jewelry pieces previously shown, Susan's rhodocrosite pack for everyone, my bag of kyanite in mica for everyone, my owyhee old stock tumbled picture jaspers, my 3 pieces of Florida Agate for everyone, and my specimens, slabs, etc. A closeup of part of it: After a lot of agonizing and puzzling, first layer: I got all of Krystee's box in the bottom (minus a few peices so it didn't bulge since it came overstuffed), some of Don's slabs in the cardboard on the right - including 2 pieces of his old old stock agates from his sphere - I took one of them as noted, and my kyanite in mica bag: Plus got in the 3 large Fl agate pieces in the top left corner. The slabs I put in (solid green varisite I think, green OJ, bloody basin and a kewl Ca fossil slice): And these (slab of really neat mozarkite that looks like a moonshot of earth, Don's black agate and pieces of his mexican lace) Here is Don's slabs, I packed his biggest pieces in the cardboard: Next box layer: This includes the earring gifts I made. I squashed them into 2 small boxes, but could not get smaller without risking damage. I put the jewelry pieces in there with them in each of the 2 boxes: I got the 4" desert rose specimen in there, but it took up so much space, I didn't get the pyrite in there with it. The pyrite had delicate crystals on it and I was afraid they'd get smashed off. The rose is solid and way tougher looking. Next layer: Got all of Susan's Rhodocrosite in there (minus the 1 for me- there's one for everyone in the package), the jewelry, and the old stock owyhee tumbles. Here's the jewelry again (it ALL went but I decided to take 1 of the tomahawks back out since I didn't have one anyway, but labeled the other one for Greyfingers again because he's part indian so I think he'd enjoy it). Other than that piece, it is ALL tradeable: Got these in there because they could fit into the spaces between items: and 2 pieces of Oregon thundereggs, 1 of them is a half: Got Jim's bag in there (with a small pendant spiral with colorful tumbled glass and the carvable opal I previously posted), plus Don's lucite stands, because I think people would enjoy those: And that's it. The single sheet of bubblepack on top was stuffed in so tight I could barely seal the box flat. Jim had requested I leave him some space for slabs. I did. I left a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1/2" space on the bottom right hand corner for an extra slab for him to add:)! See? I got EVERYONE's requests filled in except for 1... Pat, I could not stuff in a piece of glass for you, even if I could have, it would have gotten smashed, so we'll have to do a separate trade for that:). Jim, you'll have to remove some stuff to add anything, but I figure if you cut the florida agates and take a piece, then remove some of the kayanite, your gifts, and some Krystee rocks and Don slabs, you'll have room to add a couple of slabs yourself:). Whew!!! It goes out on Tues the 29, will post the Tracking # before it ships here:).

Good job. Could not have done better myself except for one thing hahaha but I will fix that when it gets here if I am right. I have some bigger things than what you gave me room for but after I take out all the good stuff there should be lots of room. We can not be spoiling all the people down the line. lol I am really anxious to get this thing rolling and be a part of it. I am sure that I am not alone when I say thank you for all the effort that you have put into this box. I am sure that if I would have started it there would have been way less organization and a lot more mess. Since you are so good at it I expect about one every three weeks. Ouch, jeezz you did not have to hit me that hard. LMAO
Rock and rooollll box is about to rooollll. Jim

Package did not arrive so I drove ALL the way to the PO (2 blocks) to see if it had come in late. I also have another box that was posted in Denver about two hours earlier than our box and it did not arrive either. The lady at the post office told me that there was no way they can get here that fast because of other stops along the way. They are going to hold them for me in the morning so I can pick them up at 9 AM instead of waiting for the delivery. I wanted it today damn it. Another 16 hours and fifteen minutes to wait. SHEESH I have been picking, picking, picking for the last four days. This, not that, that not this, how much room am I going to have? ?? What cool things will I find in the box. Am I going to be able to cut the Florida agate into cool shapes??? This is driving me crazy. I really feel sorry for the people on the end of the line. 16 hours and four minutes and counting. Jim

LOL! Jim, it SAID it was in Denver, Co last nite.... so even tho it said that it was SUPPOSED to be delivered on May 31, that was the original estimate on 5/29. They have NO WAY of being 100% sure it was getting to you by the 31. I think you'll get it tomorrow or even the day after maybe, but most likely tomorrow. Wyoming is still a ways from Colorado:).
I can't wait til you get it tho, wanted you to see the carving opal I put in there for you. It's not big but it's got a thin precious fire layer that might be 1" in diameter (I hope... no telling til you cut it).

The box will be here in about thirty minutes so I am getting ready before it gets here. I hope to have the box back to the PO in six hours so I can go hounding in south Wyoming with John (herchenx) for a couple of days. This is what I have ready to put in the box and will add more as room permits. This is part of a large block of Chinese soap stone that I brought back from China. You can buy what they call Chinese soapstone here in the US but it is just a yellow really soft stone that is not much more than dirt. This stone is a little harder than alabaster but can be carved with hand tools if they are kept really sharp. It is for Pat because she wants to try carving. Pat and I will probably be the only two people in the US that have some of this stone so it is very unique. I am also sending another stone for her to start on so she can get some practice before starting on the Chinese stone. It will depend on how much room there will be in the box as to how big the other piece will be. Here are the chisels that I am also sending to Pat. They are very basic and, Pat, you will need some other carving tools like files or rasps to make the job easier. I hope to get in these two wampidite pink WY agate slabs in the box. This is an intense red grooved cab for a wrapper that wants to try a grove wrap. I am also going to put one of these intense red cabs in but it will be a surprise which one. This is a small but thick slab of the new blue "g" stone that hand-to-mouth mining just came out with. Can probably get two nice cabs from it. The SG test puts it in the same category as nephrite and it works the same as nephrite also. A very beautiful stone that I plan to make rings out of. Jumping in the shower then heading for the PO. Be back soon Jim

Here is the layout for the Florida agate cutting. There will be 14 cab size pieces. One looks like it is real small but with the curve of the stone it is a lot bigger than it looks.
