this material is so frustrating! I cut 5 cabs from the red and yellow material tonight and all cabs were full of hairline fractures that chipped out during grinding. guess this stuff should just be slabbed, lacquered and displayed...

Those are cool! Too often some of the real colorful slabs become useless when worked. Your idea to leave as is but laquer sounds like it will work. Karock

Don, If you found that material on the surface, those hairline frac's are probably freeze thaw cracks. dig down a foot or so to collect some and you might find less cracking.

The top one looks a lot like Flower Garden Agate from WWR.

They are really cool slabs. It does drive one nuts when you have a beautiful rock that just refuses to behave on the wheel.
