I picked up a small chunk of Llanite this weekend to slice. I have heard of problems with the blue speckles falling out due to undercutting when tumbling. Does it do ok on a cab machine? I welcome any advice you may have and thanks! Attachments:

I have seen it cabbed and face polishes, so I think you are OK. I tumbles a few pieces in a vibe with no problems.

It is a granite-like stone. The blue speckles are quartz and can really pop when polished. It can be cabbed, but there can be the same kind of difficulties (undercutting, etc) as a piece of granite.

The only problems I have had cabbing this material is that I had to work at getting a uniform polish, but it wasn't that bad.

Llanite is a neat material. I've seen some knock-out cabs cut from it! Up until recently, the only known local for it was an outcrop in Texas but a similar deposit has been found in South Africa uts.cc.utexas.edu/~rmr/llanite2.html .

I`m not too far from Llano. I may make a road trip there soon.
