Hi all, Anyone in Southern CA should come to the Yucaipa Gem & Mineral Show this weekend (May 19, 20) at the community center on Oak Glen Rd. The show has the best silent auction I've ever seen with lots of old collection rough generally. We will be inside right by the front door. Also at the same park is their Iris Festival with lots of non-rock related things going on.

Wish I could make it. Hey John, do they still have the show at the fairgrounds in San Bernardino ? They had a pretty good silent auction too, but that was in the 90's

Have never heard of a show there. That must have been ancient history. The San Bernardino club has a couple of small out door tailgates in Devore.

I'm going to see if I can convince Andrew and Nathaniel. I missed last year's show.

Go Paul. It's a great show. It's indoors with air conditioning. It's been close to 100 out here lately. Lots of other events going on at the same facility. Best to go early for best parking.

I have my BluesFest to go to this weekend out in Three Rivers by the Sequoias and the General Sherman Tree, otherwise I would go.

Paul, your kids would enjoy the rock show and Iris Festival at same park. Lots of fun stuff going on all weekend.

Looking forward to it. I managed to convince them. Barbara didn't want to go as she's going backup there next week on a school field trip with Andrew to Riley's Farms. So ... Guy's Day Out!
See you up there! Paul

The show and festival is at the Sunnyside Park on Oak Glen Road. The festival has a carnival, craft show, flower show, car show (Sunday), dog walk, 5K run (Sunday), food court. The gem show is in the gym/community center. Outside is the fantastic silent auction. Inside there is Adam Dean (The Agate Hunter), Stones That Rock, myself, some nice minerals, Australian opal dealer, and more. Not the too typical now a days bead/jewelry show.

Hey Paul,
The most amazing part of the event is seeing all the stuff John has to unload from his trailer and set up inside that building. Not only that, he has to stand there for 2 days smiling, pretending his back doesn't hurt and then load it all back up!

LOL! Love it! We were at the Searchers show two weeks back. I was sorry that John didn't make it to that one. The boys had a good time there. We missed BillG22 - apparently he was there as well.

We managed three rock shows in three months - Stoddard Wells Tailgate show in March, Anaheim Searchers last month and the Yucaipa Club's show this month. Got to meet Ralph and MaryAnn (StonesThatRock) for the first time and see John (JSGems) again at the Yucaipa show. Glad we made it out there, it's a nice show and there was a lot to do. Bit of a drive from Costa Mesa but worth it!
Thank you to Ralph and MaryAnn for all the great little slabs dollar slabs they had available. The boys loved them! We sat around the table after dinner looking at them.
Thanks to John for the help with the polishing discs and recommendations. Now, just have to find the time to get them setup!
Thanks, Paul
