I recently made contact with a gentleman in Scotland. After a couple E-Mails I got the impression that he was as rabid about agate as myself. He made the statement that he got to SEE one in person at a rock show in Munich Germany. I am sure that he would just love getting his hands on some , and living across the street from a large sand plant and having permission to hunt there , I could probably sort through the many beer flats I have in the garage and find a few that were up to his standards. My problem is shipping. After asking the price for a 10 lb. box to Scotland , I had to set down and get my breath back. Right in the middle of the floor in the local U. P . S . office. Short of hitchhiking to the east coast and stowing away on a freighter headed for the U. K . , would anyone know of a cheaper route to go ? If anyone is interested in looking at Scottish agate you may do so at: www.scottishagates.co.uk/12.htmlWARNING::::: This site is not a 5 minute look/ see . It covers a lot of crafts and art forms other than jewelry, so ,be prepared to sit a while.

Oops, I forgot to mention that the agate he got to see in person was a lake superior, can't blame the guy for being impressed

The Scottish agates are one of my favorite section in Johann Zenz's new agate book! Absolutely beautiful agate! That shipping to and from Scotland is a bugger though. I sell quite a few edged weapons into the British Isles region and man that postage is a killer all right.....mel

Overseas shipping is not cheap- But the USPS often fails to tell you all the options Ijust looked up Scotland (zone 3) and 10 pounds Parcel post and it looks like $49.55- Was that what you were quoted?
