I love putting things up as well. Lately I have been into fermenting, for the probiotic bennefits and a I am married to a German woman who just LOVES sauerkraut. owever it can only be raw and totally organic. I have a couple dozen quarts just about ready for the ball jars. Stu

That is amazing. I will be setting my plants out in the next couple of days. We had our last (?) frost over the weekend. I grow determinate varieties in buckets, as it can snow any month of the year here and it is nice to be able to set them under cover from cold or hail. I usually do my tomato canning in late August. Is it true that you can grow a fall garden down there as well? Bill

Bill,we can have wonderful fall gardens here,The vegetables mature in cooler weather and have better flavor than some spring planted that mature too fast in the heat. One drawback the last couple of years was the drought and a severe infestation of grasshoppers that ate up everything that came up.
