My wife and I are displaying rocks, minerals, and fossils we have found over the years together at the Neva Lomason Library on Rome Street in Carrollton, Georgia. The display will be there for the entire mouth of June. Linda and I spent 4 hours unpacking and placing the specimens into five cases. I know that most of you are spread across the country but just in case you would be in Carrollton GA, you could see just a small fraction of the specimens that we have collected locally and from around the country !!

Might have to see if we can head up there one weekend this month and check out the collection you and your wife have set up. Unusual to see the library is open on Sundays.

Funny I was born there, a longggg time ago and in a distance galaxy. I was supposed to be first one born in new hospital, just sitting around and probably sucking my thumb but then they brought another woman in further along in labor and she beat me to the punch. They got all kinds of stuff, furniture, milk etc. All I got was a ride home in the ambulance, better than walking I guess. Or on back of mule..... Day late and a dollar short Cowgirl....

Ok, I was not to far off about the opening times at the library. This came straight from the internet website:
Library Hours Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
My wife and I and another lady will have an informal reception at 2:30 pm on this Sunday unit about 4 pm. The other lady had photographs and is a friend of my wife, Linda

KC-Cowgirl ! I remember you emailing me once b4 about been born here. Really a neat exchange for us. I remember when there was no by-pass around Carrollton and US 27 went thru the square in downtown Carrollton. The soldier was in the middle of the square. I went to Troup High School in LaGrange and we played Carrollton at where now is the Cultural Arts Center. I remember the football field being hard as a rock. Carrollton and the county sure has changed alot since the late 50's to early 60's. My Dad delivered Kinnett's Ice Cream to Carrollton, Mt Zion, Villa Rica, Temple, Bowdon and Douglasville from LaGrange. I was raised in the Hillcrest Community north of LaGrange about 5 miles. I moved to Carrollton in 1972 to work at Southwire Company. Wish I had stayed there, but pastures seem greener elsewhere. Take Care !! Frankie Foster

Hi, garock! Unfortunately, I don't think Rick and I will be able to make it to the library to see your collection. He's had to work every day for the past month (KIA), except for maybe a couple of Sundays off during the month, and I sure hope you will please remember to take your camera to the library to take photographs of your collection. Very disappointed that we won't be able to see it "in person" since you and your wife took placed a lot of time and effort to display it.
