Those are nice. I need to make some earrings for a friend and I'm worried about them being too big by the time I put everything together.

Don, those are beautiful! The first set are my favorites, what kind of stones are those? Anyway, for saying you wouldn't make them, you did a darn good job! Congrats Krista

Thanks guys, my problem with earrings is that they're a lot of work for what I can get out of them. but the customer is always right...so I'm going to have a regular stock of them. Krista, the red jasper is something I collect here in southern utah; tricky stuff, but when you get a good piece, it's really nice.

John, control the length by limiting the size of the bail, and the number of wraps you use to form the bail. I could probably shorten mine up a bit... use the same size "mandrel" (pen, nail, etc) when forming the bail for both pairs to make sure they're even.

Very fine job Don. You could always lower your cost by using silver filled wire.

Yes, what size cabs do you use, may be smaller than they look.

John, you're giving me courage! Question, is it just the pressure of the wrap holding the stones in place? On my wraps I'm finding that I actually need the stuff out on the stone, both front and back to "set" the stone. How are you keeping the stones from popping out of the wraps?

Regarding size, if you are familiar with the lortone templates, I used the largest size on the blue template, I think 24 x 10 mm. Of course, none of the pairs actually came out exactly that size LOL.
The red and blue sets do have wires pulled out and over the front, it's just hard to tell because of the high domes I put on the cabs. the Jade set does not, and are held in by the tension of the wire on the girdle of the stone. I always test these to make sure they'll hold first, otherwise I'll pull the wires over.
Edit: I always have back wires pulled over; this is a must.

Beautiful!!! I love the clean simple lines.
I'm real funny about wire wrapped earrings. Probably because I don't like them to get caught in my hair. I prefer them simple like this.
I know what you mean about the work v cost. I don't like to make them, either.
