This was a blue Disdero. When I cut it of course the thinner it was cut, the lighter it got! I wrapped it with sterling, maybe gold would have been better for a better contrast. Several shots, different angle, done this morning on a very overcast day. Where in the heck is the sun? It's supposed to be the "sunny Florida Keys"! It was suggested doing a doublet to make the blue pop so this is what it looks like against a slab of black pet wood. Very tempting to pop them out & do just that, of course it would be my first attempt at doing a doublet!!!!!! Let me know what you think, please!

Just right! Great photos! You sure did a nice job on cabbing and wrapping. I would encourage you to try a doublet, that piece you set against the darker stone looks really sweet.

I'd like to point out, also that this is just the first set. I have more pieces cut from two other rocks that I will be working on next. They will have more color to them!

Another great set!! valuewise I would think they would be worth more without backing. I don't personally think there is much difference in the colour of the stone with the black back if you look only at if the blue intensifies. Looking forward to seeing the rest I'm impressed with your wirework; the way you matched up the tabs because the stones are translucent and will see them is great. As far as the wire work colour; I find to my eye, the wire should cradle and compliment a good stone without drawing attention away from it, so together they look better than each by itself.

WOW Donnie those look so cool. I love the druzy. What if you did like wampdy did with the mirror on the back . I be it would really pick up the reflection of the open druzy and give it a lot of sparkle. However they look GREAT just the way they are. Very light and delicate I can't wait to start on mine. I am going to practice slicing some rocks on my 6" trim saw as I never sliced a rock before and I would't want to mess up the Disdero. As far as the sun, just remember the sun shines every day just not always in the same place. Stu

Thank you! Probably a good thing you didn't hear me a fussin' & a cussin' while I was working on the earrings last night until 2:00 in the morning!

Those are beautiful. I like the light blue color with the silver. I also like the idea of a doublet because it does seem to bring out the blue color more. I'd hate to see you unwrap it though.

Wow! Donnie, as far as I know, you are the first to wrap a Disdero....and what an incredible job you did!! Thanks so much for working with the Disdero material and posting some pics! I must say I really wasn't expecting such fine results from the people I sent material to but they definitely exceeded my expectations and after somewhat of a controversial thread... it has turned out better than I planned! Thanks again Donnie, you've done some awesome work here and I meant wait to see what else you do. I am working in camp in Northern BC right now and don't always get Internet access so I'll be checking in when I get a chance. Peace everyone! Warren Bobyk.
