Hmmmm, I have a box of Blue G, too. Might have to learn how to make a ring! Very nice! Your rings are lovely!

Very cool!
I think its some kind of nephrite too, as it just has that feel to it when working it!

Wow pretty ring Jim! I thought Blue-G was supposed to stand for blue glaucophane. Since glaucophane is in the amphibole group along with tremolite and actinolite, it's certainly a very close relative of nephrite which is in the same mineral group. Minerals of California lists tremolite and actinolite as species names with nephrite being a variety of both. Glaucophane is listed as a variety under the sodium amphiboles. All are pretty similar in chemical composition being various forms of a sodium, magnesium silicate.....Mel

Thanks for the lesson Mel. I did not know what it stood for and the SG was right in the nephrite range. I checked my book and it tells me the same thing that you did. Learning, learning, learning. lol
Thanks all for the compliments. They turned out better than I thought they would because they have quite a bit of yellow which to me is undesirable. Jim
