Hi Jo!!!! and yep .... they are screaming to be polished. I will try to be patient (ya right) and will not check the barrel for at least 7 days. For this final polish, I am using 3 tablespoons final from Shawn and plastic. Hug for Bill and smooch for the pooch on the lips! Thank you Chuck ... The documentation was something that a very special person taught me to do when I was first playing with rocks. I also still keep logs with all pertinent information for each barrel check. Thank you Pat .... I let this batch go a lot longer in pre polish this time. I am also very pleased with the matte. As Always!

We just got back from Little Glass Butte and have about 100 lbs of all kinds of obsidian. After seeing what you have done with yours, we are looking forward to following your process and starting our own.
Little Glass Butte is an obsidian-lover's paradise! All different kinds and most are easily accessible. My Jeep had no problem with the obsidian littered roads but I wouldn't want to take any vehicle that didn't have a LOT of rubber on the tires on some of those roads. Also some I wouldn't think of taking some without a high clearance vehicle.

Nice variety  and a super-duper pre-polish - those are going to blind people when polished

Julie, these are coming out beautifully! Thanks for sharing the photos. I have to agree with the comment that the matte finish is sort of interesting but I'm really looking forward to seeing them completely polished.

I cannot wait to see yours when finished!
I have my obsidian in 800 as of today. Everything is going as planned per TNT mom instructions. I had to extrapolate from her vibe tumbler recipe to my MJR. BIG jump! But it seems I made it. A week in 800 then I'll do 3 weeks in polish. Fingers crossed!
