My husband and I are planning a road trip through this area in Sept. and I would appreciate any rockhounding tips or "don't miss places". We are driving from the East Coast and would appreciate any info. Thanks so much.

Not a rockhounding tip, but a "don't miss" -- go to Antelope Canyon near Page, AZ. You can google it easily and get all the info.

We drove across southern Utah a few years back. There are 5 national parks there, we saw 4 of them. All were beautiful for different reasons. We did some collecting south of Moab and found some whitish agate with red spots. I stopped a couple of times along the road through the Escalante Staircase National Monument and found some nice agate on the ridges. We stayed in Panguitch near Bryce Canyon and found a lot of agate and jasper along a dirt road near there. The Henry Mts. are also very good for collecting, lots of pet wood, but we didn't make it there. If you want more particulars about the actual locations just send me a PM. I gotta say southern Utah is the prettiest place I've ever been in the US.
