Yesterday we had a long, hot (105 deg) day at the local car show. My wife got to show her car (now deemed to be "her baby") for the first time since having the restoration completed. After we got home and put "Her Baby" to rest in the shop and got it covered we settled in to a good dinner. We got treated to this end of the day. Bob

What a beautiful end to a lovely day! I was carving a rock in somebody's garage, and it was 105 here, too!

Her car is a 65 GTO. Its been in the restoration process for the last 3 years. The show was sponsored by the local auto repair and restoration business, Outwest Auto in Valley Springs. They do a customer appreciation event every year where they invite people with cars, motorcycles, boats and such to show their cars. Registration is free and those who register and show their vehicles get free pizza. There are a lot of local organizations that can sell as a buisness as well as fund raisers for the community. They award trophies the same as most car shows. One of the funniest trophies goes to the car/individual that is most likely to get pulled over for a ticket. The county sherriff gets to present the trophy. This is the restorer that did her car and they awarded her a trophy in appreciation of all the hard work we did in locating parts, giving input on what we liked, and waiting patiently for the work to be done. Our comment all along was that we weren't concerned with how long the work took but for them to take the time to do right. They did an outstanding job and it was one of the best outcomes that they have had. Here are some photos. Because the area was crowded I didn't get the best photos like I wanted, though. The trophy The grandkids and the trophy The end of the show A wild and crazy bike.....with a V8 engine! He won the rev off trophy. Bob

Bobby, Thanks for posting the pictures of that great GTO. Brings back fond memories of my childhood. Our neighbor had one just like it in the same color. LOL those trophies are bigger than your grand kids. Stu

Wowsers... Randy restores cars and bikes too. I can't believe how popular they've become in the last few years again, it's really neat to see the cars of youth driving around all fresh and restored like that!!!
