Saturday was our rock club's annual picnic, held for the fourth year in a row at a member's house in Alpine, CA. His property is on a 50+ acre private lake, with his own dock. We didn't know about the fishing the first year we went, but the last three years we have been fishing snobs, out on the dock and not socializing as we should be - lol! The weather was just perfect, the overcast having burned off by 7 am or so. It did not get too warm, and we had a slight westerly breeze off the lake.
Anyway, there were five or six of us fishing, using 2.5 to 3 inch shiners. Between all of us, we landed about 15 large-mouth bass, while several more eluded us. They ranged in weight from about 2 1/4 pounds, up to 5 lbs! All caught were released, although at least one person in attendance would have liked to eat them!!

I caught five fish total. One other broke my hook free, while another made good his escape while I was tending the silent auction. Someone picked up my rod for me, tried to horse it in and farmed it! Oh well...
We had a great time fishing. Oh, and the picnic and food were great too!
