This is a strange I've worn lots of stones and never had this happen I wore this one continuously for a couple a months and this is how it changed/darkened all I can figure is that stone is porous and my Italian oil soaped it up ? mostly anyone have similar experience? suggestions? Ed

I think it looks better. If you don't like it, try washing in Dawn dish detergent.

I think it looks better too! Is it an onyx or a softer stone? If so you are probably right that it did absorb some of that Italian oil!!!!!

Natural turquoise and pearls can absorb oils from body and makeup. Looks like a travertine "onyx" so not surprising.

You gave that onyx a nice patina, Ed. Either that or it adopted a desert varnish... mostly. (just kidding) Jo

That's odd that your heart changed colors like that, Ed.
LOL at some of the replies!
What materials will change colors including those mentioned?

I see an income opportunity here. How much would you charge to wear a pendant so as to create that petina? You can call your business "Essence Of Ed-Mostly" LOL Stu

*S* Same reason they do not want folks to touch the formations in caverns open to tourism. Acids and oils on human skin will eat at and discolor any kind of travertine (calcite/onyx) which is what makes up your material and that in cave formations. Travertine stones need to be kept away from skin contact ....Mel

So, you have two choices. You can make a leather sack to put over it while you wear it, spray it with degreaser, coat it with epoxy before you wear it (time machine required) or spray it with lacquer (that time machine hitch again). Ok, that is four choices. I am just full of geniusy ideas today. But really the fifth idea of leaving it the way it is with culur de Ed looks great also. It is my favorite of all that you have made so skip the leather bag idea. Probably won't look near as nice. Jim
