Hey everyone, So my boyfriend is taking me back to his hometown, Spearfish, SD next month, we're driving from Lincoln, NE to North Platte, NE to Spearfish, SD to Wayne, NE and back to Lincoln. We're leaving home July 14th and coming back July 18th, we can stop places on the drive or if you're near Spearfish we can come between drives. I'm looking for at least one great place to shop for cabochons If you can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciate! I don't know that we'll have time to stop at more than one or two places because he's got a lot of things planned out, but I know we'll be going through Rapid City a couple times and close to Sioux Falls, here's the rout we're taking...ish lol he's definitely a back roads kinda guy goo.gl/maps/BEJ0Let me know who's up there that I can go get some pretty rocks from! You can try contacting this guy on facebook for high quality Fairburn and Teepee Canyon agate cabs. He lives in the Black Hills, but has his shop in Rapid City. www.facebook.com/dbsagates.fairburns

I wish I could go rockhounding, but wheelchairs make that kinda difficult So I stick to letting others cut beautiful cabs and I just collect and wrap them Krista

Krista, you have a wonderful time in SD. You'll be right near the Black Hills. Hopefully he'll take you to do the drive on the Iron Mountain Road, it's really an incredible feat of engineering and the tunnels are situated so you can see the Presidents through the opening in the tunnels. And don't miss Badlands National Park, so cool. Have a wonderful time with your Honey. Jo

Roger! I can't believe I didn't think about that, I should have been looking at my shipping list for Roaming Wire! Ha haa, we will definitely stop by, I won't have too much internet access while we're on the road, but if you pm me your phone number I can call before we come And where is your shop? Now I'm soooo excited Though I won't be taking any of your slabs, you know me, I'm just a cabs kinda girl lol Krista

That looks so fun Paul, thanks for the suggestion, but it's about three hours further north than we're heading. I will mark it down on our map and if we get that way we'll go though Krista

I'm back from SD, got in really late last night. I got to see Roger which was a lot of fun, and I'm convinced we have the best wrappers and lapidaries here on RTH now, I went to all the rock shops in Hill City, Spearfish, Deadwood and Rapid City that I could find and Roger's collection of cabs beat out everyone else's plus better prices! I was very happy I think a lot of the rock shops would have been more fun if I cut my own cabs, but since I don't and probably won't be able to because of arthritis I was very happy that Roger had what the other stores didn't or had very little choice or way too high of prices. I haven't gotten my pictures downloaded to the computer yet but I'll leave a link here when I do, if anyone wants to see Krista

Glad to see that you had a great time and found some great cabs. I know that you will turn them into works of art. Jim
