I wanted to drop a quick post to say "THANKS" to the guys over at Hand-2-Mouth Mining for some beautiful obsidian. I had purchased a tumbling box and was impressed by the materials. There was enough pieces to do some slabbing and a lot of tumbling materials. Recently, I purchased a MFRB of their "AAA+" grade cutting materials. They made sure that the pieces were sized appropriately to my saw (a 10") and gave me a great assortment of colors. I've only had a chance to cut a couple of the rocks and am looking forward to seeing what's in the others. Here's a few photos of the two rocks that I cut this afternoon. I had a lot of trouble with the camera - kept focusing past the slab; these were the best photos and they don't do the material justice. Thanks again, Guys! Paul

Helen, I noticed you picked up some of their slabs - I can't wait to see your cabs as those were beautiful pieces. Do me a favor and PM me when you post photos of your cabs. I'm trying to finish up an existing batch of agate and jasper but may put them on hold to get some of the tumbling pieces in the barrels, instead. These have been fun to work with.
Thanks for checking out the photos. Paul

Hey, Alisha - Your cab came out beautifully! I'm sure Helen will have some awesome ones as well. Cabbing is one area of this hobby that I have yet to attempt ... mostly due to time constraints (I even bothered to get some instruction from my local club).
Thanks Paul

Ok, I cut the corners off of 6 of my slabs, and rough shaped them. WOW!!!! They are in the tumbler now, will take pix as I get closer to polished, but they are just gorgeous:)!!!!

Okay, Helen...that was like the season-ending cliff hanger on a TV show, LOL! "Don't worry, the season premier is in ... 13 weeks!" HA! Leave us hanging why don't you! Paul

I may swap out the agates/jaspers that are in the tumblers for the obsidian. Those pieces came out great, Helen. What grit size did you start them at?
Thanks Paul

I have a Lot-O vibe, and they started at 220... and 3 days later are still in that same 220. I am testing the theory that the grit breaks down every day if I can... so they will likely stay in 220 the whole cycle unless there's a reason to change the grit:P.

Thanks for the intel, Helen. I was hesitant to start it in the coarse grit (I use 46-70) and was considering going straight to the fine level.
Thanks for checking out the thread, Jo!

Wow, thanks guys! I'm just having fun slabbing all the materials you sent. Got three barrels of tumbling sized materials running and the initial results (between recharges) is really slick!
Thanks Paul
