I think it's 'the greens' fighting for legalizing. Florida's not going for it because the Republicans here make too much on private jail contracts. Since we don't have enough crime to fill jails, they round up every pot smoker they can get their hands on. I've been told that there are people serving life in prison for being caught 3x here with pot and only pot for their personal use.
If Pot were legal, we'd have to let the people in jail for it go.... and the private jail contractors won't want to pay politicians as much money. The Florida Republicans will never let pot become legal for that reason. It's AMAZING that some states managed to get it legalized already.

I think AZ is going to tax it. I am still learning everything. But if they tax it, it only means lots of $$ for the state. Still reading on the dispensary rules.

Ah . . . the Dance of the Doobies? I did see the error of my ways as I was typing...wondered if anyone else would? Good catch/quick wit! If I'm not being too nosy shery..I was wondering about the price and cost structure of this medicine, such as: - Is medicinal Marijuana dispensed by the Joint, or by weight(ounce or xxxbag)?
- Do you have the option of rolling your own?
- Is the cost covered by Health care(think Blue Cross/Blue Shield)
- What does it cost?
- How does that compare to the cost on the free(eg. black) market

It was legalized here in 2004. Last I checked, we were a red state. IMO, alcohol is far worse on health and relationships. I like a beer now and then, or a G&T. If it helps people, I see no downside. Moderation in all things is what is important.

I decided to go with a vaporizor rather than smoking. I was going to recommend that. I know guys who don't smoke tobacco cigarettes but do smoke joints and bongs. Man, they have really bad smoker's coughs. Hope you find some relief with a perfectly fine herb. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

What I have learned so far about Arizona...... Medicinal MMJ is dispensed by the natural buds. No seeds or stems or leaves. Pure buds. It is sold by weight. They have it in 1/8th bags and you may have up to 2 1/2 oz leagally in your possesion at any time per patient. You may use your mmj any way you want. You can also buy the edibles. The top shelf strains are $50 per bag right now. An ounce runs around $300. These strains are not your regular mexican street mmj. These are way more powerful and have way more THC. The street value of mmj is beginning to go down because the medicinal mmj is so much better. The medicinal lasts twice as long as you do not need as much to get the effect you desire. So to have a couple of ounces at one time is really to much for most patients unless they are very far from a caregiver. Prices here in AZ will go down once the dispensary open and the competition begins. Right now, there are not to many places to get it so there is no competition. AZ will only open 125 dispensarys through out the state. Here in AZ you sign a form promising the state that you will not share your mmj with anybody. You have a 'green' card that is scanned each time you purchase so the state watches how much you use and I assume if someone begins to use a lot, red flags would go up and they would be investigated for possible sales. There are no dispensarys here yet so you have sort of Caregiver Co-ops. There are three ways to register in AZ.........a patient (allowed to grow 12 plants if they are 25 miles from a dispensary or purchase from a caregiver). A caregiver is allowed to have the same as a patient but allowed to have 5 patients to sell or share with. The caregiver co ops are several caregivers that get together and grow thier plants in a warehouse type setting and each caregiver works with 5 patients each therefore allowing a one stop shop and much larger selection of strains. The last way to register is a dispensary owner and I am not sure the rules on that yet cause we don't have any. Not sure about the Health Insurance, have not got that far in my research. I purchased my first mmj yesterday morning and was very pleased. I messed up my back in Texas with the grandbaby and only 3 hits from a pipe lasted me 6 hours. Not a high (just a litle buz) but enough to take the sharp pain and make it dull. Same thing as pain meds but no side effects. I still worked all day as normal. So far my research has taught me that mmj has been used all over the world forever! There is even mention of it used in the bible as an annointing oil (not sure where yet). It is used for just about every ailment there is. Research is even being conducted on using mmj to cure cancer. There is an hour video on you tube that is facinating! People die from overdosing on drugs and alcohol poisioning. The drugs and alcohol eat away your body and can kill you. I have NEVER heard of any deaths caused by mmj. Not even any body ailments caused my mmj. I really never knew any of this until a couple of months ago when I began thinking about using it. I am completely shocked at the proffesional uses for this plant and how much it has helped people all over the world. I always thought it was a street drug used to get high on and party the night away. I guess you can abuse anything in life, shopping, men, drugs, mmj, alcohol, gambling and the list goes on. For mmj (medical marijuana) I am a fan so far and plan to learn more about it!

Hey, Rockhobbit, is it helping? Marijuana narrows synapses which can have an affect on certain types of pain. As for the "legalization," please remember that it not legal federally so be kind to your local federal agent. It kills brain cells, but so does caffeine, cigarettes and alcohol--it kills them a lot slower than alcohol does. If it helps you, why not use it? It is certainly better than heavy-duty painkillers.

I have only used it for a few days but it does help with the pain. I bought three different strains and like the more alert type than the heavier sedative type. I will keep you updated. Sheri
