Gonna open a can of worms here but..............Now that Arizona and 16 other states have legalized it, what are your thoughts? I have cronic pain with RA, Osteoporosis (chemo damage), herniated disk in my lower back, ADHD, OCD and insomnia. After 3 years on Ambien, I have weaned off. I am tired of taking predizone, oxycodne, valium, celexa, buspar, muscle relaxers and all the other crap! I have been approved and just waiting for my card. I have not really smoked weed since the late 70's and early 80's. I am not sure how to use the different strains they have today but am reading and studing. I have also learned that it will not have an impact on my christian faith. Since I will be legal, it is a natural plant (not something created in a lab), and apparently was used back in biblical days as a medicine. Figuring what a family we are here, I thought maybe I can get some honest opinions, whether good or bad. Thank you, and I am open minded. Sheri

it does not really stop pain, it only relaxes you. It can magnify the pain and make you focus on it so you will need biofeedback type of distraction. I used it for pain but stopped a long time ago as it really did nothing for it
I would rather they let doctors prescribe the demeral patch than the pot - at least with it your pain is gone and no pills to pop.
right now I just tough it out and only take cyclobenzaprin when things progress to debilitating muscle spazms.
I know that they have done studies on pot for ADHD and other mental illness and found it worked better than the current meds with less side effects.

I've never smoked it Sheri, but I have a good friend who uses medicinal MJ. She has all sorts of chronic pain due to a work related injury. She swears by it.
I did have to warn her a couple years back, not to smoke it in Custer State Park. The rangers frown on it. Guess it just depends on which state you live in.

for topical application only I would like to add I got more relief from pain with the pot when I put it in pure cane alcohol - about 1/2 ounce to a quart - and let it set for a week or so. made the best rub for the painful spots and if you saturated a gauze pad with it and kept it on where you had pain it would ease it up by quite a bit. maybe they could come up with a prescription pain creme using it as an ingrediant I would like that

It makes me sick as a dog (convulsions at it's worst) and so I only tried it a few times (this was the 1970's - everybody was doing it and I was young - thought, gee, maybe this time it will feel good - dumb) but everybody else sure loved it and I never saw any harm come from it.
So my opinion on pot is that whether it's used recreationally or for pain - have at it, it seems like a pretty harmless thing to me (and I know - lung issues - but nothing is 100% safe - I'm opinionating on a curve, lol...)

I thought and thought about this one... but in the end, legalize and tax it seems a whole lot better than filling our jails with pot smokers who have harmed fewer people than drunk drivers. From what I can tell tho, legalizing pot in Florida has gained 0 traction.

You might want to use a bong to filter out some of the tar, etc.
It gives me migraines, so I don't do it anymore. I was a daily user for a couple of years in college. Paranoia can be a problem. Also tends to sap motivation.
I'm not sure the strain makes much difference, other than I recall some varieties producing a "clear" high, while others were "muddy". Not sure if that makes much sense, but in the former you had all the good effects of relaxation and feeling high, and the latter caused sleepiness, made it difficult to think, etc. The more expensive it was, the better it was, and the less I smoked. Thai stick, sin semilla, and Hawaiian used to be tops. Mexican was the worst. Colombian somewhere in the middle and kind of mellow.

Believe it or not. You can reduce pain by as much as 30% through meditation. They have done studies and it works. I have been doing it for about a year befor I read the article about it and I have cut the amount of pain meds taken by 30% based upon what was left of the Rx at the end of each month. Best thing no side effects. Stu

Ok, went today and got my first medications. Unbelievable how they accomodate the ailments with the strains. I learned so much! They have edibles, tinctures, butter, creams, smokables. I love the chart from 1 - 7, 1 being the couchlock kind and 7 being fully functional with pain relief! It was truly amazing talking with the guys who are selling. There must be 50 different strains! Not like my hippie days back in the late 70's, early 80's. Got 3 different strains, some candies, tincture sample and cream sample. Wonder if I can let go of some more meds!! Hopefully!!
PS, after talking it over I decided to go with a vaporizor rather than smoking. Product lasts longer and does not harm the lungs as with smoking. Have not tried it yet.

Toad, it is funny but actually it will. I am taking pills to calm me and slow down my brain waves. Hopefully I will be able to drop the pills.

Tried it years ago as I had some friends who were big time and very scientific growers. Only effect it had on me was to make me a little dizzy and sick to my stomach. Same folks snuck some opiated hash into some brownies they fed us at a picnic. Now that stuff stopped time *L*. Heck, I spent like three hours staring at the hairs on my knee. Tried to crank the ice cream freezer, at my wife's request, and she said I was just sitting there holding the handle but to me it felt like I was cranking up a storm. I imagine that would help with pain for sure *L*....Mel

From a personal experience. I screwed up 3 disc's in my lower back in 97. Was on pain killers for over 2 years and then a friend said I should try it. It helps relax my back muscles. Almost pain free. Now I take a couple of Advil's a few times a year. BTW, we could build a "pipe"line and pump BC bud down to ya. :cheesy:  ;D Ya think the "greens" would oppose that one. But on the serous side this is and interesting vid. Kinda makes you wander why every government wants it illegal. dotsub.com/media/fc4e051a-1709-4e63-8a2c-912b09486c9f/e/m
