This post may ramble, just for warning.
As some of you may recall, our family took a 3-week vacation/road trip from Colorado to Rhode Island. We visited my brother and their kids. I didn't do much rock stuff while I was on the road, other than collecting some cool beach rocks (I will show those when I can get some pics), mailing a couple FRBs from the road that I had not been able to get out the door sooner, and passing on a travelling rock box (you can see some of the details on pp 8-9 of the sister/brotherhood thread)

I had let my tumblers gradually finish their batches prior to the trip, which left things quiet for almost 5 weeks in all.
We came home this past weekend and I've received some sweet bruneau from Tony that I ordered on our trip, then a friend sent some AWESOME Mt. Erebus crystals that I received today. I posted about that under the specimen photos section.
Well earlier this week I started back up slabbing, and also started parsing the ~80# of mostly lake superior agate I started in my mega tumbler back in April. A lot of it is really nice, but still has pits and cracks. There is some, perhaps 10-15%, that is all ready to move onto the vibe and get shiny.
Here it is late on Thursday and I have a bunch of new slabs, and tonight I topped off and started 2 new 12# rotary batches and filled the 10# UV10 Vibe and got it going. I'm pretty excited about the vibe batch, there are some really fascinating stones in there, and a good 8-9# total.
The garage is once again noisy with the tumblers and things are getting back to normal - at least for the rock process.
The rest of my life is crazy. Today I resigned what should be a great job I've had for 2 years to go back to work for myself. I've been talking with connrock (Tom) about this for months, and knew I needed to do it, but I am a firm believer in patience until the timing is right, and man all I can say was the time was right.
In parallel with this, our church's pastor resigned while I was away and I am on the board so my role has been kicked up a few notches in activity and priority. I'll be doing some speaking and am always involved with music and several other areas.
The really crazy thing is that everything is good. I am enjoying working with the rocks and learning more every day. I am loving staying active here on RTH. I am making more jewelry and having more folks request new stuff which is flattering.
I guess if you've read this far you're wondering when I'll get to the point and disappointingly I don't know that I have one except to say thanks again to all the great folks around here who help make this so much fun.
Also I use far too many run-on sentences.
