Wow... so they give you a value estimate (for a fee), so basically an appraisal? But if you wanted to sell them, would they buy them, or where would you go to sell them? I have some gold pandas and I'm NOT selling them for the gold value only, but I have no idea how to get them priced or where they COULD be sold today.

No, they don't put a value on the coins. Reputable coin grading services won't put a value on the coins they grade. They only evaluate the condition of the coins, certify the condition or grade of the coins, determine that they are genuine and not reproductions and seal them in a tamper detectable container to keep sellers honest. It's up to the coin owner to hit the books and internet, to determine what the coins will bring on the market.
I don't know a thing about gold pandas. Why don't you google them ? Most mass produced bullion coins are only worth the price of gold on the day they're sold.

carbide tipped or high speed steel Don? Little of both. Some of the counterbores are carbide. Old ex aircraft factory tools that I use from time to time.

ya know just to throw it out there the Jool Tool they showed applications for sharpening a variety of carbide tipped tools In theory it would work for the hobbyist
I'm not suggesting buying it or anything but the darn thing fascinates me so if I came into an influx of money I'd get one mostly

Well I don't just have pandas, I have some gold liberties and even a walking liberty, and several other gold coins too. The only gold I have with bullion value are Kuggerands, wish now that's all I bought back then, since pretty coin values are so variable. I see tons of sites SELLING coins, and none BUYING them:)

I found a local one:). Now, if QE3 happens, I'll hang on to them, and if it doesn't, I'll go sell em before gold falls again:P.

Most are rip offs, trying to make max money off of you. Do a little searching, and check reputations with the chamber of commerce before you commit to any one buyer. If they're collector coins, you'll get best value from other collectors, and even they are looking for a good deal. You probably won't get the book price for them, but you can at least come close.

Don... do you know what a reasonable buy/sell margin is? I mean say you can BUY a coin for $2800, what could you SELL it for? (can't be 50%)

Can't say Helen. Whatever the market will support at the time of sale. If the coins are collectables, at the very least you should get spot gold price on the day of sale. That's why I say to do your homework. Check internet sellers, and see what they expect to get for their coins.

Rarest of the Morgan silver dollars. The 1887 S mint. This one is in uncirculated condition, and has only minor nicks and tarnish. Estimated value before professional grading is $2,000 +

Dogs... while not really a hobby, our dogs are a great love in my life! Years ago we had a pair of German Shepherds. My kids grew up with them and they really were a part of our family. When my husband returned from Iraq, our female was really sick and passed. She was about 16 years old. Our male passed a few years later. He was 20. Loved those dogs! Great friends that we still miss! Last week, a coworker had to show me some photos of a dog that her sister was caring for. His mate died a year and a half ago. His owner's wife died a year ago and now, his owner, at 82 is in the hospital and is not expected to return to independent living. They were going to put him into the rescue network but she asked if we'd have a place for him. We do... The house was so empty without a shepherd in it, but it isn't anymore... His name is Blaze and he came to live with us on Friday. When I'm not rocking right now... he's keeping me busy. Today, I spent a quite a while taking out about two Cairn terriers worth of undercoat. Tomorrow we schedule the Vet. He's gonna need some rehab time as he's been living alone for about a month, but already he's doing much better! I really love Shepherds! Cathy
