I did this cab up out of the green stripey serpentine? it's probably too hard for that but I can't really call it anything else for now. Quartz doesn't readily scratch it even using a sharp edge. I'm going to get some of this out there so others can tell me what they think it is. thanks for looking. Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/thumbnailer/gYRCLkvBXGSym7_QEdRx.jpg)

I did a nice large cab up out of Guatemalan jade, it is about 25mmx 20mm and has spots of the imperial colour that is colouring the clear and creamy white material and has very high translucency Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/thumbnailer/H723i0KpiMM4FtaNCbrx.jpg)

Very nice Lloyd!!! I especially like the little jade, looks like a little green egg:). Years ago, I read a story about a hen who went broody but lost all her eggs... so she rolled these little green apples into her nest and sat on those.
I don't know why I still remember that story, and the story didn't have much point other than to show that when hens get broody, they'll try to hatch anything, but the words 'little green apples' still remind me of very cute things:).

I Like stripey stone, We live below you here in N.W. Washington, and I find some simular stones here. Not for sure what it is ethier, but would call it serpentine also.

thanks for looking and the comments; I like your comment about the "little green apples" allthough it brings to mind "road apples" which are ok for pucks in the winter. I've been trying to figure out what the stripey material actually is and have gone as far as looking at it magnified to up to 200 power and the structure is very much like some nephrite I have and some other material that is translucent like the nephrite and have the same intertwining 3 dimensional mossy structures in them that are the actinole and tremolite mineral forms scrunched together. These are another form of the asbestos group but they are not loose fibres so aren't dangerous even when cutting but you should protect yourself from all rock dust. Next step is to take it to a local lab I guess but I'm pretty sure it is a "dirty" form of nephrite. Possibly too much iron? or copper; both high in this area, causing it to be opaque versus translucent or transparent.
