Hi, geo-enthusiasts! By popular demand, we're scheduling an early morning field trip to Area 54, on Little Panoche Creek in western Fresno County, California. Less than a mile west of Interstate 5, this "unknown" collecting area features countless tons of great cutting material. Just what might you find there? Agate, jasper, chert, magnesite, serpentine, jade (both jadeite & nephrite) and most anything you can dig for from the Central Coast! The sweetest thing? It's a "new" collecting site, and surface collecting is unparalleled! You'll get your fill, for sure! Full details can be found at rockhound-field-trips.ning.com/events/area-54-trip-panoche-hills-fresno-county-ca-sunday-august-19-2012I'll flesh this out as the trip date approaches, and we hope to see EVERYONE out there! Seeya! Kris Hand-2-Mouth Mining Rockhound Field Trip fanatics!

I wish I was down in California I remember when I was a kid my mother would take us collecting on a dry creek bed in that area. Also found some float along the road cuts. Found some cool stuff rp
