I have never seen an agate with that much hematite in it - what on earth is it called!?
Would you be willing to sell a slice of that first rock under "my favorites" (the one with the yellow moss and beige ?swirls?) ? If so how much?
My rule of thumb on that blade is to look at the rock and the rock looks good. Cutting problems?
Thanks!

Nice slabs Donnie! All unusual and pretty. Though the first one makes me hanker for a NY strip!

Frank, I wasn't using that blade to do these cuts. Thinking about putting it back on & using it tomorrow because it's a little thinner. Let me see how many slices I get from that one rock. I kinda would like to know what it is first as well as the other ones.

The third pic is my fav. Love the unusual colors in it. You think the one with hematite was messy to cut ? Wait until you cab it. Better lay down lots of drop cloths and wear gloves. You'll have red around your finger nails for at least a week.

It is not hard to see why that is your favorite! The rock that ran your oil red looks a lot like one I took a pic of today to ask for ID help with.

Cool stuff. I cut a piece of glacial jasper with some ore in it I found the other day. Talk about red oil. Not the most fabulous stuff. I am bound and determined that some of this stuff used for yard rocks is good for something else.

No problem on the rock - I think it's salivatite, heh heh

Love your favorite too!! That hematite is like a reverse picture jasper scene.

The Fav's are Riveria Plume agate, and a nice one at that. Diamond blades are still good until the diamond is all used up(unless they get dished or warped so bad they make a kerf 3/8" wide!). I buy the 10" blades from Home Depot and use them until I wear the diamond all the way off and sparks come out from the steel of the core.

I wonder if that second picture might be one of the 'bacon's (bacon rock, bacon agate, bacon jasper, bacon opal). Searching that was nightmare-on-elm-street'ish (search engines are becoming useless anymore) for me but you or someone else may have better luck or resources.

Thanks, Frank, that's kind of what I was thinking just because it kind of looks like bacon. But what do I know? ?

You have got some beautiful cuts there Donnie! I think that blade looks fine. If it starts giving you problems, may want to cut some obsidian or a fire brick to get rid of glazing and it should cut fine for a while till you need to do it again. Fran
