Saturday I drove 4.5 hours to pick my daughter up from camp. I drove by a great rock shop that i hadn't known about and stopped in. Mike and I presume his wife were very friendly and I bought some cool stuff to try out at a great price. if you have any reason to head through south Central Colorado it is very worth a visit. Their inventory is vast and they had some really beautiful stuff. i bought some slag glass, beautiful porcelain jasper, malachite and azurite and some cool copper ore. daharsh.net/s/2012-08-05 21.12.02.jpg[/img]

Wow, when you go for a drive you don't mess around - 'tha boonies! Not as bad as the east boonies, though, and not as hard on a vehicle a the west.
I've seen that shop - years ago, before I had rocks in my head. If I'm down that way I'll stop in! Thanks!

What you see in the pic is a drop in the bucket, they have probably 20x what is shown here.

Quite a few years ago I built a steel building in Canyon City, didn't get much time to go look around town and I certainly never saw a rock shop there. Darn missed one!

Canon City is a nice little town. We planned to drive through there on the way to see the Gorge above town. Well, my wife spotted a farmers masrket so we stopped there. A guy selling bread made from spent grain from his micro brewery gave us a discount ticket for his restaurant. Restaurant was smack dab in the middle of their old town full of antique stores. Never did see the gorge. Wish I would have spotted the rock shop in our travels.

I tried to email them to ask how to see what all rock and etc they carry, and why you can't view a list or something on their website, and here's the bounce message I got:

Yeah I don't think internet sits well with them.
The Gold Mine in Cañon City, CO would do phone, but they weren't excited about selling online when I talked with them.
