I mentioned in my last nt post that I was exhaustively doing rounds. Here is one of them along with a worry stone that's been rounded river-rock style as viewed face-on. The first is an attempt to create as low a dome (two-sided) as I could possibly manage and sans bevels to avoid hiding any potential flaws in the circular shape. And I still have fingers (no dopping) 1 - Botryoidal Montana Agate Round 2 3 4 Next is a worry stone made from a piece of rock from the grab-bucket (tub) Krystee saw and I made the other day. The idea was a river-rock look (anyone know where candy rock river is?) The finish is slightly better than satin - best I could do on this with rounds (can't apply high pressure without scuffing every corner) 1 - Candy Rock Rhyolite - four orbs on one stone - high five! 2 3 4 Thanks for looking!

Love the Montana. You are slowly giving cause of worry to Krystee's trademark finish.

That second picture of the Montana looks so good you will have a hard time convincing that it was done by hand. Those are real clean lines. Both are cool, Great job.

Frank I just love the clean bevel lines on that first cab. That is an area that many people don't focus to much attention to when they cab as that area is usually concealed by a mounting of some sort. Your attention to detail shows the true mark of perfection. I see in the level of perfection that you have attained in your finish to be not a cause of worry but rather a reason for us all to rejoice and celebrate in your success. As true perfection is a quality which there is oh so little of. I have now added you to my list which I call artists of inspiration along with Krystee, High Plains Drifter and Bobby1 just to name a few of the top of m head.
Side note: By the way were has Bobby1 been? I have not seen him on the boards for a while, and I miss those giant cabs of his.LOL

Sweet work, Frank! How about some obsidian photos, sir? :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
Love the iris agate round, a low dome like that is a badge of distinction. A great stone! The "river rock" is harder to do than most might think; it's a matter of self restraint. It's much easier to go for a bright polish than to be satisfied with a softer glow. Good stuff!

Thanks! Kris - believe it or not I'm having a heck of a time polishing it. It's not the obsidian (per se - that is, it's no harder to polish than any OB) on the Ameritool I have. Prior to that I polished by hand - so that is what I started doing yesterday. It's actually the pre-polish I'm having trouble with on the diamond sanding discs. I may have to write Krystee and ask for technique advice as she does it perfectly. I had two finished yesterday for a small fun type project - one flew off the polish wheel and broke. I have it's sister but I burned my finger-tips (rare to medium-rare) on the felt so she's not got the shine I'd prefer. I'll post pics of her later so people can see it and the project I was working. Great OB by the way - love your material! Stu, gr, John, Chuck - I used a special technique to get the girdle straight and within 1/10th+ mm tolerance. Very time consuming (maybe three, perhaps four hours to grind the shape) and a bit hard on the stone (Montana don't mind - she can take it!). Works good but if I can't get the labor down on it I'll have to find another way - but thanks for noticing! Krystee - I just love it when you stop by - makes me feel like I done something right Thanks! Kurt - Krystee is quite safe but I'll take that comparison any day! Thanks! Helen - yah I love it too - if I had enough I'd cut pavers for a walkway - could you imagine that stuff set in herringbone pattern! Thanks! And for the kind words, thank you everyone - you fuel creation and it means the world to me!
