I would like to rip this old wood. I really like the wavy grain of it. But it has issues. I dont think there is any way I can slab this and keep it together. when cutting a mess like this, does it come down to cut or not to cut? there does not seem to be any good axis I can get a hold of this old wood. I think I am gonna end up with a bucket of Tumblers. any advice would be appreciated. ;D

You might try soaking for a few days in activated epoxy that has been diluted with acetone to keep it from setting. Just don't let the acetone evaporate and you should get good penetration.

Beside the epoxy soak, after the epoxy has had a couple days to cure, glue your pet wood to a block of wood. Clamp the wood in your saw vice and slab away.

You have to ask yourself if it's a good enough hunk to risk having to buy a new blade. Pet wood is a notorious blade breaker...Mel

What Mel said. Everytime you cut something like that you are risking your blade. If it comes apart while you are cutting you will either be hammering your blade or buying a new one. Sometimes they hold together, but sometimes not.
With that said, looking at your pictures I think you can get 2 or 3 slabs off the top end (second picture) before it falls apart, I wouldn't cut past the first seam though and I would try to get as much rock inside the vise as possible. If you do try it I wish you luck!
