Took jake out a few minutes ago, and found these critters standing at the edge of the corn field across from my house. Wish I had a better telephoto lens.

I would sure like to see some of that green here. The deer are going to have to start eating up all the rocks. Jim

After a couple good rains there's so much tender grass in the neighbors yard that the deer don't bother the corn. Sure glad Jake didn't spot them. I'd still be trying to find him in the corn field. Now if I can just get that big buck that's been hanging around to stay put long enough for a pic. (Or a good clean shot).

cool such a joy to watch..A couple of years ago I was visiting Ken ( my Husband)when he was on the road and he was staying in Wyoming at a friends house. the friend had deer that hung around and were only slightly afraid of people and my little Jessie decided to bark at one. the doe kept pawing at her I had to go get her before the deer pawed her in her head I got right next to it to pick Jessie up. if the doe would have run I would have never found the dog she has little dog syndrome she isn't afraid of anything

LOL Tammy, that's Jake. He's a little Jack Russel, and fears nothing. Hates other animals, but loves humans. He was outside when the deer were there only about 40 yards away. Glad he didn't notice them.

ya jessie is the same. Ken calls her bunny killer cause she finally caught one and killed it this summer I didn't know about it until I seen I had flowers laying over in one of my barrels and went to put them back as I was digging to do that I ran across the bunny fur I was so grossed out my daughter had to get rid of it, she has to bury everything in the winter when I give her treats she burys them in my whiskey barrels too so I have to scold her when she chases them poor little bunny's and birds and anything that comes in the yard. I don't think it does any good though she just keeps going LoL

When I first got Jake, he was just a couple months shy of a year old. Second day I had him he snuck out the door. Straight across to the same field where that corn is now, they had cattle. He was in a stand off with about 20 head of full grown cows and wasn't about to back down. I had to climb the barb wire fence and push my way through the cows to rescue him. Since then he's killed mice, gophers, rabbits and one mangy old field cat that strayed into his yard. Without ever being trained, he points pheasants too.

What a lovely view! One of the best views I've had looking out the front is the San Jose State University Marching Band coming toward us! It was great!
