If any of you collect coins, I would strongly suggest that you avoid eBay seller Valley Coin in Crystal, Mn.
I'm currently in a dispute with this company. A book was ordered by mistake, and after repeatedly asking them nicely to cancel the order, they have instead sent this to eBay for remediation. Further, I learned this morning that they have shipped the book to me, without having been paid for it. This is their attempt to force me to pay for something I do not want.
It has become increasingly evident to me that this company is more interested in a measly $9.97, than they are in good customer relations.
A check of this companies track record shows several red and gray area complaints against them.

Andrew, first of all, I clicked the wrong button by mistake. There is no undo or delete button on ebay.
Second, most transactions are conducted by paypal on ebay. I was going to go ahead and complete the transaction, regardless of the fact that I didn't want this dealers product. The dealer contacted me, demanding that I make other arrangements, (outside of ebay), to pay them.
Third, I explained the situation, both to the dealer and to ebay. The dealer refused to work with me.
Fourth, Nothing has shown up in my ebay account reflecting badly on me.
Fifth, There was no winning involved. It was a for sale only item. So I didn't "WIN THE BID".
I stand by what I said. This dealer is driven by profit, and to hell with customer relations.

I'm leaning toward Jake's view on this one. As a sometime eBay seller, he's right...there's no provision for hitting the wrong button so it's up to the honesty of the seller to take care of someone who makes a mistake. I doubt it has come up more than 3 or 4 times since 1998 when I first joined eBay but if someone hits the wrong button and then immediately informs me requesting not to ship, I honor their request. Why not? I think it's the right thing to do. Why make me pack up and mail something you know you don't want and that you are going to return? Just be upfront that you made a mistake. Hey! We all do it!

is it possible they are so big and clumsy that they did not connect your messages with automatic processes.
it is odd that they do not do PayPal, but since they have their own Visa merchant account (that they pay for), I could understand why.
possibly the email telling you about non-PayPal payment requirements went out automatically. Possibly the shipping dept. sent the book not realizing it had not been paid. (although thats a stretch)
they have over 1500 listings and sund like a big company with ebay, mail order, telephone, and brick & morter sales.
perhaps the forward to ebay resolution was also automatic.
still, that someone was not able to act on your messages and correct all the automatic stuff and offer an appropriate resolution, that does not speak well of them. I agree there.

The threatening messages I got from them, (and there were many), weren't computer generated. They came from an actual live and breathing person.

absolutely no excuse for threats. horse of a different color there.
I would not send the book back unless they pay the shipping. a single negative will not hurt you. let them eat sh*t.

The book was never sent to me, and I still show 100% positive feedback. I gave them bad feedback. They contacted me one more time, threatening me with bad feedback, but they never carried through with it.

this reminds me of the night I accidently pressed 9 once more and then agreed quickly as i usually do to see ibid 900 more than i should have for a cab ..lol thankfully ebay retracted it for me .. being they sent it already is a violation though ??is it ? maybe you have a chance here ..... in my opinion you might do well as long as you return the item and have a tracking number and upload it when you return it within a certain timeframe .. then they have to refund you your money no matter what there policy says .. they must follow ebay policy .. i might be wrong but this is what i remember .. good luck !

Andrew, those links don't add anything that was not already in the conversation, and offering them seems a bit condescending. Jake did exactly what is described ther (i.e., contact the seller) and the fast of a single unpaid item is no real penalty, as I had mentioned. I'm not sure what your point is.
