First slabs I've cut in two years. Still using a trim saw to make small slabs. 3 Morrisonite, 1 Tahoma and while the saw was set up; two preforms.

The Morrisonite is spectular! I've not seen the red shades before. What is that center preform? I really like that piece. Kinda has a face in it.

The center preform is a mystery jasper that I posted on the rock indentification board.

Scott said on RIB board "Second one looks like clam chowder (Coquinite)?" I looked up clam chowder and there are some similarities. I haven't seen any material with the oval eyes.

It looks to me like Clam Chowder stone. I think the areas with the eyes are cross sections of complete calm fossils with silica or calcite deposits in the center. And the curved dark lines just cross sections of empty shell halves. I've heard that the material with the yellow/gray background can be heat treated to turn it a brick-red color.

The mystery/clam chowder polished as well as a porcelain jasper. Very pleased with the material.
