Hi all!!! Soooo...... I picked up this killer slab at a local rockshow on Saturday. I saw a "Bobby Style" cab immediately and just had to have it! Might not have been the best choice in materials for my second ever super large cab but.... it turned out well! (Starting a green/purple obsidian mondo one right now!!!! All one Mohs!) In hindsight.... I should have flipped the cab upside down, got rid of all the soft black matrix and freeformed along the fortification pattern. Oh well, I started it and got a terrific preform so the challenge was on!!! Just so you know.... anyone who has gotten cabs from me know that I do the backs. I didn't on this one. I left it at half way through 600 after seeing a huge scratch that I missed. This large cab was just too much of a bugger to do the flat on my lap.... might do the back some other day though... The cab is 3.5" tall by 1.5" in the mid-section. Biggun that was inspired by Bobby!!! Both pictures taken outside.... (the hand one is just for size reference!) Thanks for taking some of your time to look at some of mine!!!

Wow! Big and beautiful Krystee! You picked a great piece to do your mondo cab from. It looks like you might get another cab or two out of that slab. Any idea what the material is? Looks like some sort of Mexican agate.

Wow... Stupendlarifous! Are you gonna have it wrapped and wear it or turn it into a big bola or just display it? Jo LOVE IT!!!!!! I'm adding Stupendlarifous to my dictionary!!! Can't do that on my computer but I can do it on my smart phone (yee haw.... got my first smart phone for Mother's day..... still trying to figure it out and the cool Pro Apps Mobile application)!!! Too heavy to wrap, and probably too heavy for a bola too. Plan on putting it in my display with the slab stand I got from Jakesrocks in the traveling rock box. I keep trying to put cabs in it but they are too small and keep falling out of the stand. This one will display perfectly!!!

Beauty! A big, big beauty. I've got some red I've got to get back too, now I've seen this one. The main problem I have with huge cabs is remembering to move the wheels apart. I'm always sanding down my knuckles, if I forget, lol. T

Welcome to the land of the giants Krystee. Your cab is fab. I did a few biguns and I must say they do become addictive.. Stu
I meant to ask. How thick was the slab? I found that when I did some big ones I really enjoyed it when the slabs were a little ticker than usual. St

Drooooooooollllllll!!!! OMG! What a BIG beauty it is! I think it was only right to preserve that in a big cab. It's really sweet. Go one step further and challenge yourself to wrap it. Bwaa ha ha ha (my terrible attempt at an evil laugh ) You can do it!

What a beauty! Looking at that slab in the first picture I was wandering how did you frame it and scrolling down I saw pretty much the same cab I would have been cutting out of that slab.
