You are braver than I. Think I would have been hiding well before 8 feet.

I think that is a Brown Bear, right? A moma with a cub is a dangerous thing.

Yep, grizzly bears. My wife yells at me all the time about my lack of self preservation lol.

she is tagged which means she is a repeat offender!
they get more bold with each time they go browsing human habitat and have less fear of human encounters which spells trouble

Wow! Looks like you got back inside and avoided the wrath of Mrs. Grizzly, but just "BEARLY"! (sorry about that) ;D

She looks thin! She must be hungry, is her natural habitat ok or did people build on it. Is she close to her habitat? Is there food there for her? Baby looks plump and healthy at least.

I guess I should tell my mother-in-law the correct reason for the tag...I'll get around to it. Scott

She has plenty of natural habitat up here. Hell, that orphaned baby caribou lives in the same 1/2 sq mile as her and he's still alive. She can't be that hungry! She definitely was not concerned about me at all. No aggressive behavior from her. She just sauntered over to see what I was. A very weird and tame encounter with a mama grizzly.

That is completely awesome! Good shots.
I am glad that it was such a calm encounter though.

cool pictures.
Have you seen any of those guys from the TV show Ice Road Truckers at Deadhorse? They filmed at Deadhorse. I know the trucker guys turn and burn and dont hang out. Just curious.
I looked up an arial shot of Deadhorse. Talk about remote.

Yeah, I'm at their terminal every now and then. I met Lisa at the gate to Ft Richardson last year. We typically use Carlile so they don't ever come to our shop.
