My material that I got on Ebay arrived yesterday. I cut two of the pieces of opalized wood and the piece of dendritic opal. The dendritic opal fell apart when slabbing but I got two decent slabs and some scrabs (not shown) that i cabbed. I also cut up the rest of the Morrisonite I previously cut. I cut these pieces at 90 degrees from the other and got a different (lesser) pattern. This was the best use of the remaining material.

I am sorry and surprised the dendritic opal fell apart on you. I have some that looks identical and 2 other shades of same stuff besides. It cut well and took a great polish. Better luck in the future!

The two opal slabs pictured cut well and the cabs I cut took a great polish. The scan of the cabs I cut was terrrible I'm going to try to take some pictures tomorrow. The falling apart was probably my fault. I use a genie trim saw attachment and am not very delicate; shoving the material through the blade. The opal probably needed a lighter touch.
I hate admitting this but I bought a new 16" Covington combo saw 4 1/2 years ago and it's still in the box. The good news is that they have gone up in price since I bought it and some day I will set it up.

Four and a half years of lapidary in a box? OK, I'm going to zip my lips because what you cut is beautiful and the teasing you do just isn't fair.....
