Agate doublet. The crack showed up when polishing with cerium. That happens from time to time. Don't really see a way to grind it to remove the crack and still have a decent shape and pattern. Asteroid jasper. An unusually high dome for me. Barite. Biggs. One of the blue agates, probably blue lace. Blue apatite. Blue calcite. Blue G. Bought the sampler pack and got 6 really nice pieces. Blue willow stone, probably my favorite of the bunch.

very nice set. I'm sure you can recut the doublet and it will be very nice. rock isn't perfect and you have a great cab, including the crack.

i wonder if you can cut it of right at the crack, leaving a flat-wide top. then top drill and set a 2-3mm post with eyelet. this is an available finding, and I think it would work.

Some really nice cabs! I don't know if you were using Synthetic Quartz for the doublet but it is rather heat sensitive and will crack if it gets a bit too hot during polishing..........not that it has happened to me HE HE. Bob

Randy, we do need to get back down there. Amber starts her new job in two weeks. Once she's settled in we will have a better idea of when we could come down.
Bob, the backing is black jasper and the top is the agate. I've never used synthetic quartz or done a quartz cap.

The blue willow stone is gorgeous, it looks just like blue lepidolite.

I took about 100 photos of cabs, what I've done this year, and am slowly posting them. The files happen to be in alphabetical order so that's why there are lots of blues here.
