This is a really killer piece of Kingman with red matrix. I wanted to do something a little Southwestern with it. I know lots of people pair coral and turquoise. So, I tried it, but I just don't like it myself. I don't want to scrap this much silver, but I really don't like this. However, lots of times, things I don't like, someone else might love so I am asking for your opinions. I live on the east coast and I don't see much SW jewelry and I don't personally care for it much. It's hard for me to be objective about this. The coral is genuine, the turquoise rocks and the wire is argentium 20g round (lots of it). I didn't cab this. The seller posted the picture of it with the host rock. It is actually a little deeper blue than the photos.

I like it! I'd leave it and see who else likes it or can't live without it! I got me a pound or 2 of that killer turquoise to work up

I"m not big on the coral beads. I like SW style jewelry where the coral is in the natural form and incorporated into the work. I think the beads distract from the beautiful stone in this pendant.

I'm not real fond of it either, but it may be my monitor. The "red" for me is kind of red-brown--sort of muddy. The salmon pink in the middle keeps my eyes on the beads, not the cabochon.

I don't think the beads do a heck of a lot for it but it's not ugly and they do draw out the reddy brown in the turquoise. I'd leave it, for the effort and cost you'll get a buyer that loves it. Lloyd

The turquoise is beautiful & the wrap is very nice, however the coral does detract from the beauty of the turquoise. That being said, as Diane pointed out, different strokes for different folks. Why not just leave it, for all the work you put into it there is someone, somewhere that will absolutely love it. I did a pendant once, I was only okay with it, my sister didn't care for it but when I took it to the bank & showed it to the bank manager she fell in love with it & had to have it.

I personally don't enjoy it, but my tastes in jewelry to wear run very simple. On the other hand I know a few people that would go ga ga over something as bold as this. The red truly captures the eye and although it takes you a while to see the whole piece and not just the coral beads, it brings your attention to the piece in the first place. So I'd say leave it, and see if you can sell it for a while. If you find the just no one is even attracted to it you can always try and change it later. Krista

the beads are distracting me too. may be too much red for the amount of red in the stone, or the smoothness of the beads is fighting with the smoothness of the stone, or it might even be the symmetry - somehow keeping the stone from prominence. but, as noted above, someone, more likely multiple someones, are going to like it fine how it is. not everyone deconstructs things the way I tend to. While not a complete solution, I do think I would like the beads smaller and lower. This lets the stone standout more.

The cab is good. However, overall it doesn't work. The red beads are overpowering and the salmon? beads also subtract. The turquoise should be the star of the show.

I'm liking it, let me tell ya why. It's turquoise, and the beads give it a sorta "native American" look. I'd hang it from a black leather choker and leave it as is.

seeing the ZAP, I think some bead is better. Still like smaller and lower. I think the coral has to go. too bright for the rich red-gold in the stone. maybe a red-gold-brown bead:

;D Howdy Mam!! We wear stuff like that out west! I would keep it cause without the beads(zap) it looks naked. I also think most Southwest jewlery has a black patina.......Hub just my :2cents:

Whooooo Hooooo ;D ;D ;D ;D Y'all are awesome! I really needed the input. Thanks so much and for the PS treatment, too I'm going to see if I can take the beads off and do something different with those wires. If not, hopefully someone will love it- because I sure don't. I have some that are more orange (Tibetan coral beads) with black spots which are smaller, more round and irregular that might work better. They look more "natural". These are true oxblood red coral. I hoard them like crazy.

Yep, the stone is a beauty itself, doesn't need anything around except your flawless wire wrapping.

I'm thinking no beads too. Too nice a stone to allow to get lost!

I agree with those who don't like the beads. Turquoise is in itself southwestern and I tend to like simpler designs. Just my two cents. The wrap is great. I'm sure there will be someone who will love it as is but in the end it's what you think that matters since you are the artist and it's your creation.

I can see this on a fully decorated indian along with a bunch of other beads ,., I like it !! but I can see where most common people and there modern looks wouldn"t like it ... but i like a bit of everything and i bet there is alot of others out there who would also like a unique piece like so .. and would like to wear this piece !! just like i enjoy it even in todays sometimes neat looking world ..

I like the beads but I think it would look more balanced if the beads were smaller...but you know what they say...." different strokes for different folks"

Different strokes is right Christopher. I had a good look at it and I don't think I can do much about the beads now. I'm going to list it on etsy and see what happens.
