Can't believe Little Foot has to ask directions fro finding rocks. I thought the rocks called you by name. " Little Foot, here we are. Come and get us ". LOL

Yup. Normally he can sniff them out. Must be something about that Florida air that has his sinuses plugged up.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have 1,000 lbs of rock on his truck right now. He's been hauling loads between the Florida Panhandle and Indiana for almost 2 months. Every time he has to hole up somewhere, he goes out and hunts rocks.

LOL. He's been known to do swaps right off of his truck. He even does swaps with rock shops, and comes away with some killer material. He's sitting in the rain right now, waiting for his next load to haul north. You need to get up there and see him, but be sure you have overload springs on the back of your car. He'll load you up with rocks.

Pensacola is a 9 hour drive from us... We have relatives there, but hubby doesn't have enough days off to go very often:(.

Helen, check facebook for Bob's latest finds in and around "rockless" Florida. He posted a whole bunch that he found yesterday.
He'll be back on the road tomorrow, so you won't get a chance to see what he's finding for a while.

There is a place in Florida, just south of tamps I believe, a river where you can get fossilized clam that have crystal formations in them .. along the peace river I think is the name of it... also fort drum in Florida is another place for fossils but you have to have a permit to collect fossils in Florida that you get fro the univ of Fla in Tallahassee, $5.00 for the year and lots of reading on what to do when you find them.
Florida, historically, has spent as much time below water as it has above water... hence all the sand and no rock.

I think the famous fossil Fee pay place near tampa is Ruck's Pit.
I looked into it once but didn't make the trip from Ft lauderdale.
It is pricy but looks like some great potential for fossilized clams

Do you know much about the Central Florida Rock and Mineral Show in Orlando, November 9, 10 and 11, 2012. We will be in the area at that time and hope to go. Like to pick up some faceting rough there.
Thanks
