Just got the saw fixed and now this... Cut a few slabs from some unknown green stuff. Well, the rock decided it wanted to fracture while in the vise. Made the worst sound I have heard in a long time. Luckily I was right next to the saw when this happened. Destroyed about the best blade I ever had. Bought this saw used about 15 years ago and the blade was pretty worn. Been cutting with it regularly ever since and at least it was at the end of it's life. It was a Star Diamond Meteor blade.

Yep, I've had that happen a few times. I've been able to repair them most of the time with a torch and hammer, and sometimes even ice to shrink the metal back into shape. Fortunately I haven't bent one in a while, it's a pain in the butt making them true again.

Didn't know rocks could explode while cutting! more like shatter and fly around the box making lots of noise ... not an actual explosion

I had that happen with an MK .032 blade. Tore a chunk out of the blade and threw it. That saw had no cover and I was lucky not to get hit by shrapnel.
