I ordered some polished rocks when I was first getting interested in this. They are all pretty (though none approached James'!) but my favorite one is actually mostly transparent, with a milky cloud in the middle. Would this be quartz? And go to www.yessupplyco.com and click on "polished stones" to get an idea of what the best of batch look like - can you identify what other kinds they are using?

It looks like tumbled river rock. Quartz type. They usually use these stones because they are already shaped and are easy and quick to tumble. The transparent one you like is probably and agate.
