It's been a while since I have been around. I see many old faces and some new ones. A while back the tumblers came to a screeching halt and cabs sit unfinished. I haven't made a wrap in a long time. There's a darn good reason! On July 18th we welcomed a long awaited addition to our family, our daughter Jane. Fast forward 7 weeks and she is a vibrant chubby baby full of curiosity. She is such a blessing. Every day I just sit with her for hours, thankful to be holding her. Being a father has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. It was a very long and difficult road to get Jane here. We had been trying for years. Long story short, this was a very high risk pregnancy due to cervical cancer surgery. After two years of trying, IVF, and bed rest for most of the pregnancy, we had her. By the grace of God, my wife was able to carry her to 34 weeks. Jane was born, looking good and ready to face the world. She was cleared from the NICU after 2 weeks. It was a long difficult homecoming, but she made it. She is wonderful. Slowly I should be returning to the board. I am trying to find a quiet cabbing maching I can use that does not make a huge mess so I can keep it in the house. Maybe I will try a wrap pretty soon. Its nice to be back, if even sporadically. Steve

Congratulations! No wonder you haven't been around--such a good reason. Now for the photos of her accompanying you rockhounding, then her first cab, her first wrap, etc.
Beautiful baby!

Wow, Steve. For all of your artistry, the cabs, the wraps, I'd have to say that is your best creation in, well, forever. Congratulations! Enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you everyone. She is such a gift. I could never have imagined how amazing fatherhood could be and how happy I am just being around my daughter. I almost took her along with me to a rock sale today, too soon? ;D
It's nice to be back here even if I won't have any marathon cabbing sessions to post or any wild rock trips to write about. Soon as I can I will get her outdoors. My heart will jump the first time she picks up a rock, so long as she is old enough not to try to eat it.
Which reminds me, I have already begun the task of putting away all the small rocks in the house, including bowls of tumbled ones. Quite a task. Time to get bigger safer rocks. Steve
