I tumbled some pyrite in the barrel with my wonderstone and lizardstone.
Initially surprised that the slurry turned out black - it is usually light grey. But I think I recall someone else posting about this sometime back, just forgot.
FYI - the black stained my hands and the colander I use to clean the rocks.

Metallic content rocks are just plain trouble makers. They gum up blades and wheels and discolor oil as well.

Yep, metallic oxides give us fits, too! We have a heck of a time slabbing our Panoche Hills poppy jasper! Even in water with an additive to cut surface tension, we generally have to clean the 10" saw blade several times during each 3" cut! It's like sawing Play-doh! So, keep that brick handy, and forgo tumbling pyrite! Good tumbling! Kris
