I was out getting some more green stripey stuff and found a new road cut and you know not to pass those up. A spot of blue caught my eye and as I was trying to figure out what heavy equipment company painted their cat blades blue, it came to me I'd better look. Sure enough I found some lazulite showing in basalt and quartz/calcite matrix. Not enough to make much I don't think; fairly scattered in the matrix, but interesting anyway. plus.google.com/photos/110050783532864937229/albums/5786712917298859553?authkey=CNaf-dnDkYvQrAE

Those are nice specimens, if there aren't any cabbing material.

Is it possible that it is azurite? On the east coast (Bay of Fundy) we ofter get malachite and azurite (or combinations of both) as a crust on our basalt. It's usually not much thicker than a coat of crusty paint, but makes a nice specimen.
