Here is a large Owyhee picture jasper slab. It is about 5/16 thick too. Slightly over 1lb. I got it to polish as a shelf specimine, but am not sure I still want to. I do have a picture jasper collection, so I am not sure I want to cut it. I do think large display cabs of very nice scenes is an art form in itself, and I might make 3 large cabs/tiles from this. There are also numerous spots to get a very nice teardrop, oval, or freeform cab, but I think I can get cabs just as good from smaller slabs. Maybe I should sell it to someone who is clear they want to keep it whole as a shelf specimen. I paid $50 4 years ago, but not sure of today's value. Not in any hurry to decide. Just take it out now and then to enjoy. I really like the motion in the blue sky, especially the scatter of stars. Even the areas that look gritty, are smooth and solid. Enjoy! (the front shown wet) (the back shown dry. there is a saw mark)

Slabs of Owyhee Picture Jasper this large are hard to come by. I don't think I could bring myself to cut it up.

Yes. If I decide I am really not going to display it, I should try to sell/trade with a collector who will value it intact

I see beautiful cabs but.... DON'T CUT IT!!! I don't see any fractures. Aside from the saw line on the back side, which doesn't matter, are there any imperfections in the actual stone that we can't see from pictures?
It's beautiful and well worth you taking it out from time to time to enjoy. I would be fainting time to time when I pulled it out, no joking!

The slabs belong in a museum. As cabbing material the pattern is too big.
