I need to order some ceramic pellets and was going to order from The Rock Shed as the price is ok, but the shipping is 2/3 of the price. Can anyone recommend another source? The pellets from The Rock Shed would cost me about $28 including shipping for five lbs. If that's the best price, or even close to it, I'll buy it there because I have a good history with him.

Try ceramic tile spacers from your local home emprovement store. Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

I think most people "batch order" with therockshed. We love it, but shipping is shipping. Since they use flat rate boxes, you can get a bunch of rock too for the same shipping cost.

You should call them about the shipping. If, like my website, they use a UPS schedule it will be less if they ship USPS instead. 5 lbs. would fit easily in a $5.10 padded flat rate envelope.

i'v never had any problem w/ therockshed.com Nor have I. It just seems uneconomical for me to buy one item and then have to pay 2/3 of that price for shipping. It's not their fault, just the way it is. Right now I don't need anything else to combine shipment with to make it work so I'll just swallow a little harder and send in my order.

I would charge you $25 for the ceramics and $5.10 for shipping if that makes you feel better. $28 shipped sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I already placed the order. I need to wait until I have several items to order at the same time, but that doesn't always happen.
I guess that after having sent 27 large USPS flat rate boxes (full of rocks I collected this summer from OR, ID, UT and CO) from CO to myself here in TX, I really shouldn't complain too much! ;D The post office in CO thanked me for supporting them but the local delivery lady was VERY happy that I wasn't sending any more.

Covington sells 5# ceramics for $15.95 plus frt. Use to go through a lot of it until I started using all the saw trimmings. Have a bucket of that saved up, all hard jasp-ag.

I just bought 50 lbs. of ceramic media from SMF & Machine Tools for $89.18. That is only $1.78 per pound shipping included. I didn't see a lower price anywhere. Here is the link: www.vibratoryfinishing.com/media.htmThat beats the pants off the Rock Shed's over $5 a pound.
