I've spent 34 years searching for this. My day with the Stanley Cup. It's really not my job to polish it. The NHL cup handlers do a fine job! Attachments:

He's not logged in, so I'll fill you in briefly until he comes back online.
He works for the LA Kings, who just won the Stanley Cup (in Hockey, for those non-sports folks).
So the cup now travels around, and Bill got to have it today for a few hours. Obviously, big party at Bills' house! :-)
Hey Bill, I thought you were going to slab it up???

Really cool photo. I never thought I'd see the Stanley cup next to some rock tumblers.

Where'd Bill go? Hopefully he wasn't planning a big reveal which I just ruined . . . (oops)

Clean bench, you just can't see the rest of the garage. Susan, as far as slabbing it up, that may make a few headlines, big ones in Canada. We had over 200 people visit Stanley that morning. We would have had more, I think a bunch of people melted on the way over. Man it was hot and no breeze.
I even had a few moments to take it over to the Circle K and attempt to get a refill Diet Coke in it. The looks on the cashiers were priceless. Overall seeing friends, who I had not seen in years was great. The team will have to win a few more Cups (as soon as the lockout ends), so I can host a some more gatherings.

Ha! I love the idea about the 7-11! Did you take it for a ride in a convertible?

That's cool you got to spend some time with it! Are those players' names engraved in it?

It was a very cool day, even when it was so hot. Susan, I would have had to saw off the roof of my XB to do that. We did get to the Circle K and have pictures at the soda fountain. Yes those are names of players and staff who have won the Cup. Those names are from the mid 1950's to 2011. The names (on trophy "rings") from 1926 to the mid 50's are in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
