What you see here ... in my lousy photos... is a piece of Labradorite that I have tumbled.... and herein lies the problem/challenge if someone wants to attempt it. I don't have or have access to wheels to grind/polish/finish this stone and I am wanting to make a pendant out of it. I want to remove some more material to bring out the colors better then give it a nice high gloss polish. What I want to know is... would anyone here want to attempt to do this for me? There would be no issues if it doesn't work out, breaks etc.. I just don't have the equipment to finish it. So my challenge to all of you...... Does anyone want to try to finish a lab pendent for me?? I plan to tie it up with a black leather thong or my wife is hinting that I should look into some wire to make a hanger for it and then connect the wire to the leather... open to suggestions too. If no one wants to attempt it thats ok too... just thought I would ask. I'll post a few more pics of it too just to give a better view of it. Attachments:

pic 2 There is a bit of material still covering the lab and some of the color os starting to show thru it, but I am afraid that to keep tumbling it is going to ruin the rock before I can remove the outer coating and expose the color beneath!! Attachments:

Hello, We would be more than willing to help you. We work mostly with Labradorite (although we too are still on the tumble quest, lol) Did you want it just polished with the cleaves or loose material removed? Let us know the details and we can get it pendant worthy Carleton

Also, Labradorite does not exactly work like that per say, there is a chance that under that brown material is flash, but more than likely not. Take this slab as an example, (front and back view) if you notice the dark non flashing area in the corner. You can grind that right through and will not ever see flash. While if you take note of left side view, that middle streak of dead area will get smaller as you grind in that direction, because if you look at the right hand picture, it is gone. In that slabs case (when looking at it from the left side pic) the next slab that was cut (behind) would have yielded no dead streaks (in the middle), while the slab that would have been cut before that (closer to the camera, would have had a larger dead area. think of it more in terms of "pockets" of color and dead areas, rather than an "outer skin" of dead area that just needs to be peeled off. Hope that helps a bit, some times people tumble Labradorite further and further thinking the "skin" will wear off and yield all flash, but unfortunately, very often not Carleton

There are sections that are just starting to show flash from under the outer crust. I am hoping that enough of it can be removed to better show that flash. I am hoping to create a free form pendent out of it. I was thinking maybe wire wrapping with black leather strap to tie around the neck??
I'm open to ideas/suggestions... I'll pm you in a few ... taking care of home issues first!
Thanks for replying Mario
