On eBay I won an auction for 5 Septarian nodules (about 3 - 5 lbs each). I was the only bidder so I got the starting price -- $20 plus $11 shipping. A good price.
He did not tape the sides of the box (all in all, it was not a good packing job for rocks -- would have been fine if he was shipping books or sweaters), so one of the nodules escaped during shipping. I guess it is now running free somewhere in the USPS system. (insert refrains of Born Free here)
I'm essentially getting polite shoulder shrugs from the seller. He's showing zero interest in making things right. So far I've made no demands.
Looks my choices are (not mutually exclusive):
1. Forget it and move on. The 4 nodules are good and are worth what I paid. It looks like it was the smallest one that escaped.
2. Neutral him in ebay rating. I don't see this at the level of a negative.
3. Insist on a replacement nodule or a partial refund. Do the sellers here consider this type of loss to be a buyer risk?
